Lamido Adamawa Receives Girl Child Education Advocacy Team from AUN

On July 25, a seven-member delegation from AUN was received in the palace by the Lamido Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa. 

Leading the AUN team was Audu M. Liman, the Chief of Party to the SENSE Project, a girl-child education initiative funded by USAID. The courtesy visit was to seek the Lamido's royal blessing for SENSE (Strengthening Education in North-East Nigeria). 

Mr. Liman who is the Grant Administrator of the Atiku Center for Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Development thanked the Lamido for his support to AUN.

AUN, through the Atiku Center, recently received donor funding to carry out education projects in Adamawa and Gombe states. He added that the project is meant to improve the quality of education in both states.

"We are here also to inform Your Royal Highness that the UN High Commission for Refugees has been working with AUN to support IDPs in the three Northeast states that are severely affected by the insurgency. Similarly, the German government in 2018 also provided funds for AUN to support farmers in Mubi, Maiha, and Michika Local Government Areas of Adamawa State."

He said Adamawa State had become known not only as an education center but also as a center for development projects in the Northeast of Nigeria. He assured them of the continuous desire to project the good name of Adamawa.

In response, the Lamido thanked the delegation for the visit.

"I am very happy to hear that the United States is helping greatly in strengthening education in the Northeast, the royal father responded. 

"My doors are always open."
