COVID-19: USAID/AUN Commences Radio Learning Program For 500,000 pupils In Adamawa

On 28 July 2020, our home schooling program targeting over 500,000 learners in Adamawa and Gombe states through Transactional Radio Instruction (TRI) was officially launched.

The program comprises of four components of sound, pedagogy stories, songs, and syschronized workbooks which seek to get learners connected with lessons through radio drama series accompanied by easy to memorise songs.

Funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the SENSE project, the program being implemented by Atiku Centre for Development of American University of Nigeria (AUN) Yola, is a collaborative effort with the Adamawa state government to strengthen the educational system in the state.

The SENSE project is working with the ministry of education, SUBEB, LGEA and national and international academic institutions as partners to improve educational outcomes for 200,000 primary school children.

Performing the ceremony at the AUN community hall in Yola were the Adamawa state Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri represented by his Deputy, Chief Crowther Seth, Dr. Abba Tahir representing AUN President Dekle and the Deputy Chief of Party Dr. Malgwi who hosted the event.

The program was launched simultaneously in Yola, the Adamawa state capital and in Gombe, Gombe state.
