GEEP, Pilot, Yola, Adamawa State

The Girl’s Education and Enhancement Program (GEEP) was designed by the American
University of Nigeria (AUN) and Adamawa State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development and its departments and agencies.  The program aims to increase the opportunities for girls already in school to remain and succeed in school and therebyimproving their potential to contribute to the national economy and live a healthy life.

GEEP will be piloted at Sanda Government Girls School. GEEP will provide afterschool lessons in Mathematics, English and ICT subjects. The target class is JSS3 and SS3 students. The classes will be covered from Monday to Friday and the instruction time is 12PM – 1PM. The programme will also include a life-skills acquisition training once a week, whereby the girls will learn a trade and contribute to them gaining their agency in the society.

The facilitators of this programme are AUN students who will be trained and supported by the AUN, SUBEB and SAME teams. The program will be evaluated at the end of the first cohort and revisions to the approach will be made based on the result of the evaluation.
