AUN and UNHCR Collaborate to Support Livelihoods of IDPs

On 19 May 2016, AUN, in collaboration with the UN High Commission for Refugees or UNHCR, officially launched the “Protection Through Livelihoods Project” a ₦40 million program that trains internally displaced persons living in Adamawa State in income-generating skills.

ACHIEVEMENTS

1st half of the year
  • Training of 50 Beneficiaries on micro businesses, Apprenticeship, Financial literacy, savings and Business development
  • Empowerment of the 50 Beneficiaries to establish or scale up micro businesses
  • Sensitization of the 50 Beneficiaries on Sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV)
  • Monitoring and Mentoring of the 50 Beneficiaries and savings collection
  • Success stories have been recorded after the empowerment –i.e Financial Ability to have access to Medication, 3 square meals, Clothing, Education and Social status upgrade
  • Monitoring of 2018 cooperatives
2nd half of the year so far
  • Training and Empowerment of 250 Beneficiaries on sustainable agriculture
  • Training of 50 Beneficiaries on micro-businesses, Apprenticeship, Financial literacy, savings, and Business development. To be empowered in September 2019.
  • Sensitization of the 50 Beneficiaries on SGBV
  • Monitoring and mentoring of 2017 and 2018 empowered cooperatives
  • Monitoring and mentoring of 2019 empowered Beneficiaries
  • Training and empowerment of 20 Beneficiaries in tailoring. The beneficiaries have gone through Financial literacy, savings, and Business development training
  • Sensitization of the 20 Vocational-skill Beneficiaries on SGBV
